About Us

Welcome,

The Codington County Heritage Museum is located in Watertown’s old Carnegie Library on the corner of Maple Street and First Avenue South East and offers changing exhibits, permanent exhibits, special events, programs and research assistance.

In addition to onsite programs museum staff also do presentations for groups around the county. Call for a list of available programs and scheduling.

If you are unable to visit the museum during our open hours please call to make arrangements for after hours tours or special group visits. 605.886.7335.

Our Mission

The mission of the Codington County Historical Society and Heritage Museum is to collect, preserve and disseminate the history of the county in order to educate the community and stimulate an appreciation for our local history.

Our Hours

WINTER HOURS
September – May
Monday – Friday
1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
​Second Sunday of Each Month
1:00 – 5:00 p.m.

SUMMER HOURS
June, July & August
Monday – Friday
10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
​Saturdays
1:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Visitors are encouraged to wear a mask.  Occupancy will be limited to protect visitors, staff and volunteers.
